The 9 Best AEO Agencies in 2026 (Ranked With Public Criteria)
The best AEO agencies in 2026, judged by one test: can they show the artifacts? Nine firms compared, with the only fully public pricing here.

You typed "aeo agency" and got twenty pages that all use the same forty words. AI visibility. Get cited. Future of search. Book a call. The category is eighteen months old, the vocabulary is already commoditized, and your actual job is figuring out which of these firms runs a working system and which of them built a landing page last quarter.
The stakes aren't abstract. Whoever the engines recommend is on the buyer's shortlist before anyone visits a website. So the agency choice matters, and the choosing is genuinely hard, because every vendor page reads identically.
This list is our attempt to make it less hard.
First, the disclosure
This list is published by Powerplay. We're on it, at number one, which you should discount exactly as much as that deserves. Here's what we did to earn back some of the trust that arrangement costs.
We wrote down our criteria before ranking anyone, and they're testable questions, not adjectives. We evaluated every agency from its own website, fetched this week, and we don't repeat any claim we couldn't find there. We flag which vendors publish pricing, because almost none do and we think that's a real signal. And we applied the same test to ourselves, in public, with links you can click.
If you finish this page and hire someone else off it, the criteria still did their job.
How we judged every agency (including us)
Strip the vocabulary away and a real answer engine optimization agency produces five kinds of work. Each stage has a deliverable you can ask to see. That's the whole test. An agency that can show you the artifact runs a system. An agency that can't is selling a word it learned recently.
Stage | What the work is | The artifact to ask for |
|---|---|---|
Demand mapping | Which buying queries and AI prompts are worth winning, and why | A ranked target list with per-keyword reasoning you can challenge |
Answer-ready content | Pages built passage by passage to be quoted by engines | Live pages that rank in classic search and show up in AI answers |
Entity coherence | One name, one category, one story everywhere machines read about you | An entity audit with the contradictions found and the fix list |
Cited-surface placement | Presence on the third-party pages engines actually cite in your category | The citation map, plus placements won on it |
Measurement | Visibility across engines, tied to traffic and pipeline | A report where every number traces to a source you can check |
Why does this test matter more here than it did for SEO agencies? Because the work is harder to fake-check from outside. Rankings were public; anyone could verify an SEO vendor in thirty seconds. AI answers are probabilistic and personalized, and the sourcing runs on different rules. Semrush found roughly 90% of ChatGPT citations point to pages ranking position 21 or worse in traditional search, so an agency's Google track record tells you surprisingly little about whether they can get you recommended. The artifacts are the only inspection port you get.
Two failure patterns explain most of the disappointing engagements in this category, and both are visible in the table. An agency that only sells content produces a beautifully written site that nothing cites, because the offsite placement and entity stages never happened. An agency that only sells mentions and buzz produces activity that no one can defend at budget time, because the measurement stage never happened. When you're evaluating any firm below, ask how the five stages connect to each other. The answer tells you whether they run a system or a service menu.
One more criterion we weighted, and it'll be a running theme below. Whether the agency publishes what it costs.
The list
1. Powerplay
That's us, so here are checkable facts instead of adjectives. We're an AEO and SEO agency for B2B teams, and our methodology is public in full: the AEO playbook we run for clients and our teardown of how to evaluate agencies in this category, including the sales-call questions that make vendors squirm. Our pricing is published: $6,995 to $11,995 per month depending on stage, scope itemized. Run the artifact table on us before you run it on anyone else; those two links are stages one through five, shown rather than described. The missing artifact is a client logo wall, and that's deliberate. Our clients haven't opted into being case studies yet, so until one does, what we'll show you is the machinery and the price, not borrowed logos.
Google ranks pages. AI recommends brands. Our entire engagement is built on that shift, and the receipts are the pitch.
One genuine strength: the methodology and the pricing are both public, so you can audit us before the first call.
Best for: B2B teams that want AEO and SEO run as one system, by people who show their work.
2. Omniscient Digital
Omniscient runs organic growth for B2B software companies, with generative engine optimization sitting alongside SEO strategy, content production, technical SEO, and digital PR. Their site names clients like Jasper, Order.co, and Smartling, and their stated philosophy is that "SEO, GEO, and content should drive business growth, not just traffic," which is the right North Star. They're also one of the only firms on this list that publishes a number: full-service engagements start at $10,000 a month.
One genuine strength: a full organic stack under one roof, with a starting price actually on the site.
Best for: funded B2B software companies that want content, SEO, and GEO from a single senior team.
3. Growth Plays
Growth Plays builds content engines for B2B brands, dev tools, and VCs, with clients like Lattice, Calendly, and LangChain on the site. They explicitly design for LLM visibility plus traditional search plus AI Overviews as one program, and their emphasis on attribution stands out: predictive cost-per-visit and cost-per-conversion projections, and content tied to revenue rather than traffic. No pricing is published; you're routed to a consultation.
One genuine strength: attribution discipline, which most of this category treats as an afterthought.
Best for: technical products and dev tools, where the buyer can smell generic content from orbit.
4. Goodie (higoodie.com)
Goodie is the honest odd one out here because it's a platform more than an agency: prompt research, brand monitoring across 11+ AI models, an AEO content studio, and attribution tooling, with SOC 2 compliance for enterprise buyers. Their case studies name real brands, including a reported 127% increase in AI conversions for Dermalogica. Buy it knowing what it is. Software surfaces the problems; someone still has to do the placement, entity, and content work. No pricing is published; it's demo-gated.
One genuine strength: monitoring breadth, across more engines than most agencies track at all.
Best for: teams with in-house capacity who need instrumentation more than execution.
5. RevvGrowth
RevvGrowth is an AI-first SaaS marketing agency where AEO and GEO sit inside a wider stack of demand gen, PPC, and product marketing. Their AEO methodology is unusually specific on the site: GSC mining, pillar-cluster architecture, "Short Answer Block" content, weekly citation tracking. They claim 80+ AI Overview placements and 50+ B2B SaaS brands served; we couldn't independently verify those figures, but at least they're concrete enough to be falsifiable, which beats vibes. No pricing is published.
One genuine strength: they name their mechanisms, which makes the artifact test easy to run on them.
Best for: SaaS teams that want AEO bundled into a broader growth engagement.
6. Marcel Digital
Marcel is a Chicago shop that's per its own site an Umbraco Platinum Partner since 2013 and a Google Premier Partner, and they've added AEO to a genuine full-service practice spanning SEO, paid media, CRO, analytics, and web development. That history cuts both ways. The engineering depth is real, and AEO is one line among many rather than the center of gravity. No pricing is published.
One genuine strength: actual technical and web-development muscle behind the search work.
Best for: mid-market organizations, especially on Umbraco, that want AEO inside one accountable vendor.
7. First Page Sage
First Page Sage sells a structured six-part AEO service (audit, content, schema implementation, monitoring, publicization, and coordination with wider marketing) and their client list is the heaviest on this page: Logitech, Salesforce, U.S. Bancorp. Their site calls them "the #1 AEO Agency," which is also what this page does for us, so run the artifact test on both of us. Note that they research and publish cost data for the industry even though their own AEO services page doesn't carry a rate. Enterprise buyers will find the most familiar-shaped engagement here.
One genuine strength: enterprise pedigree, with logos that clear procurement.
Best for: large organizations that need an established vendor more than a bleeding-edge one.
8. On Marketing
On Marketing is a pure-play answer engine optimization agency: AI visibility reports, brand visibility audits, long-form content built for LLM consumption, and semantic structure work. Their framing that "AEO starts with a good SEO strategy" is correct and refreshingly unhyped for a firm that could easily have claimed SEO is dead. The site is thinner on named clients and shown artifacts than the firms above it. No pricing is published.
One genuine strength: an audit-first motion, so you see your gap before you commit budget.
Best for: teams that want a focused AEO diagnosis before deciding how much system to buy.
9. Agency AEO
Agency AEO describes itself as a collaboration between a web design studio (Makespace!) and a branding firm (Omythic), organized around a clear four-step framework: get found, build trust, get recommended, stay ahead. The framework covers the right ground, including entity and reputation building that many bigger shops skip. They serve law firms, healthcare, home services, and retail alongside B2B, which makes them one of the few credible options for local businesses in this category. No pricing is published.
One genuine strength: entity and reputation work is explicit in the framework, not buried.
Best for: local and SMB service businesses that AI engines are already answering for.
The questions that sort systems from vocabulary
Whichever names made your shortlist, the sales call is where this list stops helping and the artifact test takes over. Ask three things:
"Show me prompt-level tracking for a current client." Working agencies have a dashboard open in under a minute. Landing pages have a slide about the importance of measurement.
"Which specific third-party pages did you earn placement on last quarter?" The answer should be URLs, not a description of outreach philosophy.
"How do you know any of this produced pipeline?" Directional answers are fine; this channel hides its own influence. Evasive answers are not.
An agency that clears all three is worth paying, whatever its rank on anyone's listicle, including this one.
The pricing pattern you'll have noticed
Nine agencies. One publishes full pricing (us). One publishes a starting price (Omniscient). Seven publish nothing.
That's a strange norm for a category whose entire sales pitch is transparency to machines. We think hidden pricing mostly signals that scope is improvised per deal, and improvised scope is how retainers drift away from the artifact table. Whatever you end up paying anyone, write the five artifacts into the agreement. A retainer without nameable deliverables is a donation.
FAQ
Is an AEO agency the same as a GEO agency? For buying purposes, yes. AEO (answer engine optimization) and GEO (generative engine optimization) are two names for the same discipline, and several firms on this list use both on the same page. Some vendors sell the acronym distinction hard; we'd treat that as a yellow flag, since the energy usually comes from having little else to differentiate on. Evaluate the artifacts, whatever the work is called.
What does an AEO agency actually do? Five things, if it's real: maps the buying queries and prompts worth winning, builds content engineered to be cited, makes your entity coherent everywhere machines read, earns placement on the third-party pages engines cite, and measures answer visibility against pipeline. Each stage has an artifact. No artifact, no stage.
How is an AEO agency different from an SEO agency? The overlap is real, and the honest firms on this list say so. The difference is the operating objects: prompts and buying questions instead of keyword lists alone, citation data instead of domain-authority folklore, and answer visibility instead of rankings as the leading metric. An SEO agency with a new services page keeps its old objects. Ask to see them.
What does an AEO agency cost? Mostly undisclosed, as the pattern above shows. The two published data points on this list are our $6,995 to $11,995 per month and Omniscient's $10,000-a-month starting point. Judge any quote against the deliverables it names, and be suspicious of any engagement judged in under a quarter; the channel compounds too slowly for four-week verdicts.
Can't we just do AEO in-house? Parts of it, yes, and a good agency will tell you which parts. Product truth, voice, and community presence are better owned internally. The data layer, the citation mapping, and sustained production are where teams stall next to their day jobs.
